We are proud to announce that the Crystal River Outiftters Cyclery is now open! We are still working on getting products in and some last minute finishing touches, but we are ready to accept bikes for Tune-Ups, Repairs & Performance Upgrades.

In addition to Bike Repairs, we also have a large fleet of bikes available for Bike Rentals. We offer mountain, comfort, road, and children’s bikes for half day, full day, and week-long rentals.

The Cyclery also carries cycling clothing & accessories, plus Smith Sunglasses, Go Pro Cameras, and Mountainsmith Camping Gear.

The Cyclery is currently open Monday-Sunday from 10-5. Please call 231.334.4420, option 2 with any questions!

Based on your time and budget requirements, we can create a trip for groups of any size and of all ages will enjoy.

A few ideas:
Take your sports team on a Crystal River kayak trip for team-building.
Morning of your wedding? Get the groomsmen out on the Crystal for some kayaking!
Set-up a bike trip for a family reunion.
Make it easy for your out-of-town wedding guests to explore Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore by setting up a kayak day.
Create a field trip for students that includes kayaking the Crystal (we have trips that are shorter to accommodate younger kids) followed by a hike on the Dune Climb.

Looking for a reason to sneak up to Glen Arbor? Glen Arbor’s Annual Winterfest will be held Saturday, February 18.

The day starts off with the Sportsman Shop’s Perch Fishing Contest from 7 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Glen Lake. To register, visit the Sportman Shop.

Later in the day, head to the deck at Boonedocks for the Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce’s Chili Cookoff from 12- 3 p.m. Local businesses, residents and visitors can enter their chili to be voted as the “Best Chili in Glen Arbor” (after attendees sample and vote). There will also be live music during the event. Admission is $10 and all proceeds go to the Glen Lake Schools Scholarship Fund.

So this is what it looked like in October– LAST October, October 2010. We were still open which explains why the kayaks & canoes were still out.

Question- isn’t this what it should look like now? Winter in Northern Michigan so far has been weird. Very little snow, and what’s crazier– lots of sun! The sun we are loving, but all of us are rooting for snow. The funny thing about being a true Northern Michigander is that we all want the snow. In our opinion, if it’s going to be winter, we’d rather have snow. We ski in it, we snowshoe in it, we hike in it, we sit in our hot tubs and let the snow fall around us. It’s what makes the winter speed by so before we know it we are out paddling again!

Everyone is confident it will snow. And please keep in mind that the SKI RESORTS ARE OPEN!Our neighbors at The Homestead & Crystal Mountain have some nice bases and it has been cold enough to make snow.
